Fresh Herbs Breathe New Life Into Beef Stroganoff

How many times have you rushed home from a really hard day only to have the faucet leak, the frozen dinner your kids were supposed to thaw still has ice crystals on it, your spouse invited an unexpected guest for dinner, and you forgot to go grocery shopping the previous day? Life traditional beef stroganoff happens.



A plate of beef stroganoff in slow cooker (with two pieces of garlic toast and a hefty side salad) is less than $9. On top of that, the beef consists of sizeable slices cut into bite size pieces. It's tender and fresh mushrooms are used instead of canned ones. While the seasoning could be a little better, a quick dash of salt and pepper does the trick. Also, the noodles are perfectly done and not mushy.

On most days, there is an afternoon tea service served in the Panorama Bar with cookies, light snacks, and of course, tea. There are, however, a couple of days where an extravagant tea is served in the Neva Restaurant. One is the russian stew Tea where the galley prepares a variety of Russian dumplings and Peroshky. Excellent!

I used to be amused by my dog Sheba. She really enjoyed Mom's beef stew and would scarf it down with delight.However, before chewing she would carefully spit out the peas into a pile beside her bowl. Funny dog.

Final verdict. This Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely a winner with hearty beef dishes. I'd buy it again and again. And I'd like to do a vertical tasting, comparing Mondavi Cabs up the line.
